A number of years ago we visited Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen where our Danish-speaking Tazmanian tour guide explained to us the concept of ‘hygge’ (before numerous books were published on the subject to educate us). It was a crisp and sunny October day and he took us to experience what he reckoned was the best cheesecake in Copenhagen at Bertel’s bakery (it needed more biscuit base imho). All wrapped up, we chatted away and demolished the cheesecake simultaneously. We were apparently having a very hyggelig moment. It was chilly but we were cosy and happy to sit together enjoying our cheesecake. The definition of hygge!
Why am I telling you this? Well this Christmas, Arnotts and the Danish Embassy want you to experience that hyggelig feeling for yourself and have launched a special pop-up shop at Arnotts’ Christmas Wonderland.
‘The Danish Collective’ is a specially curated collection of Scandinavian design and crafts with everything you could want for your festive interior. Pottery, glassware, tableware and Christmas accessories, from selected Danish designers. Gift ideas galore will be found here!
And if you’re offering, I’ll have a few of those beautiful teak Olive Forks from Muubs that remind me of antlers.
