H&M has just released the first glimpses of its newest collection but of course, it’s mainly the Home section that I’m interested in.
Rather than taking inspiration from any of the super strong Colour of the Years like Pantone’s Ultra Violet, H&M focuses on the more muted end of the colour spectrum with ever popular blushes and powdery pinks taking centre stage. Dulux’s ‘Heart Wood’ would do well here.
Paired with the softer roses are deep ruby reds which give an added dimension to the milkshake mood, as do the trims of brass and gold which, despite the new year, haven’t seemed to have dulled. Deco details also make a welcome appearance in the patterned cups, plates, tumblers, trivet (aka pot stand) and napkin holder.Linens and cottons are the main material, giving a lighter touch to the collection instead of heavy, sumptuous velvets which do still crop up in some of the cushion covers. Textured plays a key role too in the waffled throws and textured-weave towels and cushion covers.
It’s nothing we haven’t seen before but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth looking at. If anything, they’ve taken the best of previous trending favourites and made a beautiful collection that should sell well. I would’ve liked some more burgundy though.
